Mark Gee
Mark Gee lays down the foundation for The Rhythm and Blues Project with deep grooves, gritty tone, and a strong blues feel. A former jazz saxophonist who shifted to keyboards in the early ’90s, Mark brings decades of musical instinct and road-tested experience to every show.
Rooted in blues, R&B, and jazz, his playing is soulful, dynamic, and always locked in with the band. Mark’s feel and chemistry with Denise drive the sound of the group, giving the music its weight, edge, and unmistakable swagger.

mike (Vern) Miller
Veteran percussionist Mike "Vern" Miller serves as the rhythmic cornerstone of The Rhythm and Blues Project, infusing each performance with his unparalleled expertise and passion. His rich background, honed through his tenure with esteemed ensembles such as the Mario Flores Band and the Columbia Jazz Band, allows Vern to bring a distinctive flair to every beat. His deep understanding of rhythm and dedication to his craft elevate the band's sound, making him an essential force in their dynamic performances.

Frank Tonetti
Frank Tonetti is the guitarist for The Rhythm and Blues Project, known throughout the Motherlode for his gritty tone, screaming leads, and no-nonsense approach to the blues. A well-established local musician, Frank has spent years playing stages across the region with multiple bands, including his classic rock project The Fabulous Off Brothers.
Rooted in feel and fire, Frank’s riffs cut through with raw energy while his solos bring bite, attitude, and edge. His playing adds muscle and intensity to the band’s sound, pushing the groove harder and keeping the blues loud, bold, and unapologetic.

Brian Jirka
Brian Jirka holds down the low end for The Rhythm and Blues Project with a deep groove, gritty tone, and a no-nonsense feel. A Motherlode native, Brian earned his stripes in original bands like Bison and Last Caravan before spending years in Southern California immersed in the LA music scene.
A bassist, vocalist, and songwriter, Brian brings real weight and soul to the band’s sound. His pocket, experience, and raw musical instinct lock in the rhythm section and give the music its backbone—steady, powerful, and built for the blues.
